MELLEM
Filippo Moroni · Tycjan Knut · Stephan Marienfeld · Florian Tomballe
Enter Art Fair 2026, Copenhagen, Denmark
27 – 30 August 2026
Buysse Gallery is pleased to present Mellem, a curated presentation bringing together paintings by Filippo Moroni (IT, b. 1996) and Tycjan Knut (PL, b. 1985) alongside sculptures by Stephan Marienfeld (DE, b. 1966) and Florian Tomballe (BE, b. 1988) at Enter Art Fair 2026 in Copenhagen. Derived from the Danish word mellem, meaning “between”, the exhibition explores the spaces between painting and sculpture, abstraction and figuration, structure and gesture. Rather than presenting individual practices in isolation, the booth proposes a dialogue in which material, rhythm and spatial relationships unfold through proximity.
Filippo Moroni’s paintings investigate the physical condition of paint through layered gestures, fractured surfaces and shifting chromatic structures. His compositions oscillate between abstraction and figuration, allowing image and material to coexist in a continuous process of transformation. In contrast, Tycjan Knut constructs his paintings through a disciplined vocabulary of geometry, colour and proportion. His restrained visual language establishes a measured rhythm, where subtle variations in tone and structure invite a slow and attentive engagement with the painted surface.
The sculptural works extend this conversation into space. Stephan Marienfeld presents one of his Bondage sculptures in polished stainless steel, a work in which tension, repetition and curvature transform an industrial material into an organic form. Installed in dialogue with Moroni’s paintings, the sculpture reveals shared formal dynamics that emerge through entirely different artistic languages. Positioned at the centre of the booth, Florian Tomballe’s recent sculpture introduces the exhibition’s only figurative presence. Its quiet monumentality anchors the spatial composition while opening a dialogue with the surrounding abstract works through mass, balance and material presence.
Mellem proposes that the most compelling relationships emerge not through similarity but through the space between distinct artistic practices. The presentation invites viewers to move between painting and sculpture, discovering how different materials and visual languages can converge through rhythm, perception and form.
