Emanuel Seitz (b. 1973, Dingolfing, Germany) is a contemporary artist whose work examines the essential components of painting: form, color, and composition. After studying at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Günther Förg (1999-2003), Seitz developed a distinctive abstract language rooted in minimalism and modernist traditions. Förg's influence is visible in Seitz's use of monochromatic palettes, raw pigments, and the exploration of the physical act of painting.
Seitz's paintings juxtapose carefully layered color fields with dynamic, gestural brushstrokes, often arranged in rhythmic grids. These structured yet expressive works engage with spatial tension and the chromatic possibilities of pigments. The deliberate repetition in his compositions invites viewers to reflect on the dialogue between precision and spontaneity. Drawing from the legacies of minimalism, conceptual art, and gestural abstraction, Seitz's work explores how color and form shape emotional and perceptual responses.
Seitz's paintings have been exhibited in major institutions and galleries across Europe, with solo exhibitions at Galerie Forsblom in Helsinki, Galeria Heinrich Ehrhardt in Madrid, and Buysse Gallery in Knokke. His works are featured in renowned public and private collections, including the Lenbachhaus and Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, the Pérez Art Museum in Miami, and the Miettinen Collection in Berlin. Based in Munich, Seitz continues to push the boundaries of abstraction through his innovative use of pigments, forms, and spatial relationships.
