Chiharu Shiota (b. 1972, Osaka, Japan) is a Berlin-based artist known for her monumental thread installations that integrate everyday objects, such as keys, shoes, and boats, into intricate networks. Her work reflects on themes of memory, absence, and connection, often evoking the emotional resonance of lived experience. Educated in Japan, Australia, and Germany, Shiota has exhibited globally, including representing Japan at the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015.
