In Head of a Cypriot Female (2025), Florian Tomballe turns to the enduring presence of the sculpted head as a vessel of memory and form. Carved from Scots pine, the work draws upon ancient Mediterranean traditions while remaining rooted in a distinctly contemporary language. The figure is not reconstructed from history, but reimagined through reduction, rhythm, and structure.
