Silvia Giordani’s “Cloudy Stones” (2023) recalls the ethereal landscapes of artists like Georgia O’Keeffe, whose abstract interpretations of nature similarly explore the boundaries between the tangible and the surreal. The soft, floating forms of stones evoke O’Keeffe’s ability to transform natural elements into poetic, otherworldly symbols. Additionally, Giordani’s subtle use of light and texture can be linked to the atmospheric qualities found in the work of Yves Tanguy, where organic shapes inhabit ambiguous, dreamlike spaces. By merging the grounded, earthy tones of her stones with the illusion of weightlessness, Giordani places herself in dialogue with these art historical giants, creating a timeless scene that is both grounded in nature and suspended in abstraction.
