Buysse Gallery presents Curated Real Estate, a collaboration with Henry Walthers in Bruges, curated by Louis Buysse. Through a considered selection of abstract paintings by Tycjan Knut (b. 1985, Warsaw, Poland), the project reflects Buysse’s curatorial approach to integrating contemporary art within architectural environments. The presentation explores how artistic selection, spatial relationships, and visual restraint can establish a dialogue between contemporary art, architecture, and everyday experience.
The initiative forms part of the gallery’s ongoing exploration of how contemporary art can be experienced beyond conventional exhibition spaces. By introducing selected artists from its programme into everyday environments, Curated Real Estate seeks to establish a closer relationship between artistic practice, architecture, and daily life.
Based in London, Tycjan Knut develops a restrained language of geometric abstraction through subtle tonal variations, layered surfaces, and carefully balanced compositions. His paintings explore relationships between colour, structure, and perception, drawing on the legacy of twentieth century abstraction while maintaining a distinct contemporary approach.
Within the spaces of Henry Walthers, Knut’s paintings enter into a dialogue with their architectural surroundings. Their subtle chromatic transitions and measured compositions introduce moments of visual stillness, inviting observation without dominating the environment.
Rather than approaching art as a decorative element, the collaboration considers how artworks can contribute to the perception and experience of space. The presentation creates an opportunity to encounter contemporary abstraction within a setting shaped by everyday interactions.
Through Curated Real Estate, Buysse Gallery continues to develop new contexts for presenting its artists, bridging the distance between the traditional gallery space and environments encountered in daily life.
