Buysse Gallery proudly presents "SHIFT," the first group exhibition within the program, focusing on the evolution of abstract art in Europe. Curated by art historian Carmen Casiuc, this show invites audiences to explore the profound potential of abstraction as a means of expressing transformative experiences. Embodying these core elements, the exhibition space will continue to evolve in its showcasing format until the end of December 2024.
The first chapter opens with works by Cyrielle Gulacsy, Tom Van Puyvelde, Lieven Deconinck, Emanuel Seitz, Irina Ojovan, Damien Bénéteau, Stien Bekaert, Bram Bogart, and Tycjan Knut. More than a display of art objects, "SHIFT" delivers a multifaceted exploration of stylistic and thematic relationships, becoming a framework where new artists will be invited as response to its first iteration. Both new works and rearrangements keep reconfiguring the space until its end.
Under thoughtful curation, each piece in this collection becomes a part of a larger dialogue about feelings, perspectives, and emotions. The artists employ minimalistic elements that are used ingeniously, transforming basic shapes and lines into dynamic forms that challenge traditional views.
Aligned with the gallery’s vision of showcasing art that interrogates and innovates, "SHIFT" meditates on themes of transformation through the basic visual language. Figures and forms evolve into three-dimensional experiences, while lines embody movement and intent, inviting viewers to redefine their understanding of visual narratives.
"SHIFT" at Buysse Gallery is an invitation to discourse and discovery, opening on October 3rd, 2024. Join us for this unique journey through the vibrant world of some of the most exciting artists representing European abstract art and uncover the transformative essence that lies within simplicity.
