PRESS RELEASE

Silent Forms: Florian Tomballe & Marius Ghita
Buysse Gallery, Knokke 13 June – 27 July 2026

Buysse Gallery is pleased to present Silent Forms, a duo exhibition bringing together sculpture, relief works, works on paper, and painting by Florian Tomballe and Marius Ghita. On view from 13 June to 27 July 2026 at Zeedijk-Knokke 700, Knokke-Heist, the exhibition proposes a contemplative environment shaped by material specificity, spatial rhythm, and the slow persistence of fragmented forms.

At first encounter, the practices of Tomballe and Ghita unfold through distinct formal languages. Tomballe's sculptural vocabulary — reduced, fractured, and archetypal — approaches the body as both structure and residue. His wooden sculptures, acrylic reliefs, and works on paper carry subtle echoes of Mediterranean antiquity and post-war European sculpture without becoming historically fixed. Ghita's paintings introduce a different temporality: atmospheric, psychologically suspended, hovering between memory and invention. Figures and interiors appear familiar yet inaccessible, resisting narrative closure.

Within Silent Forms, these two practices enter a measured dialogue. Rather than resolving their differences, the exhibition constructs intervals of proximity and distance — allowing each work to retain its autonomy while entering subtle resonance with its surroundings. Sculptures interrupt spatial rhythms while paintings extend them. Light plays a central role throughout: Tomballe's tactile surfaces absorb and structure space differently from the luminosity within Ghita's canvases, creating a rhythm between weight and apparition, density and silence.

Silent Forms continues Buysse Gallery's sustained interest in restraint, observation, and material presence — presenting work that rewards slow looking and resists immediate resolution.
